The Latest From CUPE 3903 on Friday

Many of us are now well aware of the fact that CUPE 3903 and the York University administration have decided to meet again in order to begin classes on the 6th. In a friendly phone conversation, speaking to Tyler Shipley, the media spokesperson for CUPE 3903, we spoke about our feelings about the situation.

Tyler mentioned that since the beginning of the bargaining process, that was 6 months ago, this has the first time that the YU administration has actually initiated a request for talks. Throughout the entire period, the administration has been disrespectful about the process (according to Tyler) and treatment of CUPE 3903. However, this is a very good sign, and if an understanding can be reached, from what I understand, CUPE 3903 will grab it. They want to come out strong, since they haven’t been doing this for the past 6 months to just say “whatever.” (those are my words now, heh).

Tyler mentions that they are being cautious about this encouraging sign when asked if CUPE3903 was excited. They are willing to negotiate around the clock tomorrow, Saturday the 3rd and updates will be provided based on when the meeting ends which could be during the day tomorrow, or the following day.
